Every mother interested in breastfeeding always worries about being able to lactate enough for her baby. We have listed several herbs that women have found beneficial in aiding with breast milk production.

Fenugreek, a plant that has increased breast milk since the beginning of time, contains a compound, diosgenin, which increases milk flow within women.

Fennel seeds also help increase the quality and quantity of breastmilk; it contains herbaceous galactagogue (a material that helps in boosting breastmilk supply) and has been used to improve the amount of milk in nursing women from the beginning of time.

Lemon Balm aids in calming the nervous system; it is an excellent herb for post-partum moms because it balances the thyroid function, which can be out of control right after birth. Lemon balm is also helpful to help offset the mind and body, supporting women who have developed post-partum depression.

Dandelion leaves are rich in minerals and vitamins calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, zinc, vitamins B1, B2, B3, and high amounts of vitamin C and beta-carotene. In Traditional Chinese and Native American Medicine, healers gave the leaves to women to help reduce mastitis and improve milk quality and production.

Like dandelion leaves, Alfalfa is also nutrient-rich. Alfalfa bears chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, silicon, zinc, vitamins-A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, C, D, E, and K, as well as many amino acids. Alfalfa leaves support mothers with low milk supply while increasing fatty acids in milk. Alfafa is also helpful in maintaining proper pituitary gland function, which is responsible for releasing lactation hormones.

Once you feel that your milk production is sufficient to supply your infant, you can discontinue use. Remember, there are breast milk banks where you can donate your excess milk.

We have formulated an easy-to-take tonic that will help increase breast milk within 24-72 hours of consumption called Lacto-Blend. Caution: if you have upper respiratory issues, hypo-glycemic issues, or develop a rash and feel this tincture aggravates symptoms, please discontinue use and see your medical provider.
